Introduction to simulation: Definition and historical aspects, simulation types, random generators, Monte Carlo simulation. Spectral analysis of time-series. Stochastic simulation of time series using the power spectrum. Simple stationary and cyclo-stationary models for one variable. Hydrologic persistence and stochastic methodologies to simulate synthetic series with long-range dependencies. Multivariate stationary and cyclostationary models. Stationary multifractal models. Application of the developed concepts and methods to hydrologic timeseries.
