Ioanna Ntaikou is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Patras and a member of the Laboratory of Environmental Technology. She holds a BSc in Biology (2001) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering (2006) from the University of Patras, and has extensive research experience, as well as systematic teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in environmental and biochemical engineering.
She has authored 60 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, 1 monograph, 6 book chapters, and over 100 conference papers in international and national scientific conferences (https://orcid.org/my-orcid?orcid=0000-0002-5039-6432). She has been involved in 26 competitive national and international research and development projects, as a researcher and coordination lead, and serves as a reviewer for numerous scientific journals and as a member of scientific committees and associations.
Her main research interests focus on the sustainable treatment and valorisation of wastewaters, wastes and residues through biological and thermochemical processes, with emphasis on resource recovery and the production of high value-added products, as well as on water treatment, disinfection, and reuse within the framework of the circular economy.
